Chances are you’ve tried to reheat leftover cookies in a variety of ways, only to find that they’ve become hard and dry. The best way that I found to reheat my cookies was in the oven. Once done right, the oven will warm up your cookies to become nice and gooey on the inside. Here’s how:

As a general rule, you could reheat your cookies by setting the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and placing them on a cookie sheet in the middle rack for about 4 to 5 minutes. Continuously monitor the cookies so that they do not burn or overbake. The cookies will look shiny and inflated when ready.

In this article, I will break down exactly what to expect when reheating cookies in the oven, the right way to do it, and many other related questions. I will also share other great methods to reheat your cookies in order to prevent them from becoming dry!

Can You Reheat Cookies In The Oven?

As a whole, cookies can be reheated in the oven after they are baked. Set the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and place the cookies on an oven-proof tray or a parchment paper-lined baking sheet for approximately four to five minutes, keeping a close eye on them so they do not overbake.

Do you often have baked goods like cookies leftover from a family gathering or other festive occasion?

While there are many different methods you can use in order to reheat your cookies, I like to put my cookies back in the oven to reheat them if I have the time to do so.

In my experience, the heating that an oven provides tends to be more even!

I would, however, advise you to keep a close eye on your cookies if you’re using the oven and err on the side of caution by only heating them a minute or two at a time.

Remember, you can always put your cookies back into the oven if they aren’t warm enough. You can’t, however, rescue a badly burned cookie.

How Long To Reheat Cookies In The Oven?

As a general rule, cookies should be reheated in the oven for four to five minutes. The cookies should be placed on an oven-safe dish at 300 degrees Fahrenheit. In order to avoid burning or overcooking the cookies, make sure to keep a close eye on them throughout the process.

The trick to reheating cookies in the oven is to stay close and monitor them as they warm up. Cookies that have already been cooked will quickly burn if you aren’t careful.

I would suggest setting your timer for about four minutes and checking on them after time is up.

You can always put them back in if they aren’t warm enough!

The key is to set your oven to a low temperature. I find that 300 degrees Fahrenheit (150 degrees Celcius) is a great temperature that slowly warms up the cookies instead of rapidly, which can cause burning.

What Are The Best Ways To Reheat Cookies?

Generally speaking, the most effective methods to use when reheating cookies are by using the oven, placing the cookies in the microwave, or heating them in an air fryer. Besides these conventional methods, you can also place them in a toaster oven or even warm them on a stovetop.

While reheating your cookies in the oven is great, there are many people that want to know of other places where you can reheat them. There are several methods you can use to reheat your cookies and have them taste as delicious as the first day you baked them!

1. The Oven

To reheat cookies in the oven, place the cookies on a cookie sheet or other oven-proof dish. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees and place cookies inside to warm up for about four to five minutes. Pull them out no longer than six minutes in order to avoid drying them out or burning them.

I prefer to heat cookies in the oven most of the time, especially if I’m reheating more than just a few. Set your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Next, line your baking sheet with some aluminum foil or parchment paper.

As your oven is heating up, start placing your cookies on top of the covered baking sheet. I like to allow for about an inch of space between each cookie.

Avoid overcrowding your cookies on the sheet, as this could cause them to reheat unevenly.

After the oven has reached 300 degrees, place your cookies inside and set your timer for about four minutes. Cookies that have already been cooked can quickly burn when you’re reheating them in the oven, so stay close as you wait!

After four minutes, take your cookies out and check their temperature. If they’re the right temperature, enjoy them! If they need to be reheated for a little longer, simply place them back into the oven for another minute.

2. The Microwave

To reheat cookies in a microwave, place the cookies on a microwave-safe plate. Place a damp paper towel on top of the cookies before setting the microwave for twenty seconds. The damp paper towel will redistribute moisture into the cookies making them soft and chewy.

While the microwave is the quickest way to reheat your cookies, there are a few caveats to remember when using this method.

Microwaving your cookies to reheat them can quickly zap their moisture content, leaving you with dry, crumbly cookies. Fortunately, you can mitigate this problem with a quick and simple solution.

Take a food-grade paper towel and thoroughly wet it with cool water. Be sure to wring out the excess in the sink. Place the damp towel on top of your plate of cookies prior to placing it on the microwave.

You don’t have to completely wrap the cookies in the damp towel. Lightly placing the towel on top of the tray of cookies should be enough for this method to work.

Check to make sure every cookie is underneath the damp paper towel.

Next, set your microwave for twenty seconds. When they’re done, pull them out. The damp towel will help to ensure that your cookies are just as delicious and moist as they were on the day you first baked them!

3. An Airfryer

To reheat cookies in an air fryer, set the air fryer to 300 degrees and place cookies in the tray without stacking them on top of each other. Set the timer for about two minutes and check on them once done. This process may be repeated as needed until they reach desired temperature and consistency.

While many people may not conventionally think of using an air fryer to reheat their cookies, I’ve found this method to work in a snap if you don’t have a microwave or easily accessible oven in your surroundings.

First, set your air fryer to 300 degrees. Next, line your cookies inside the tray, making sure not to stack any of them on top of each other.

If you stack them, you’ll end up with cooler cookies on top and cookies with burnt bottoms underneath.

I personally love reheating cookies in my air fryer!

I recently wrote an article where I talk about the 4 Best Air Fryers on the market right now. Click on this article if you’re looking for a throughout breakdown of these 4 air fryers.

I personally use and recommend the COSORI Smart Wifi Air Fryer. This air fryer has served me for many years and works great for warming up your delicious cookies. This air fryer even has an app that alerts me every time my baked goods are ready while connecting to my Alexa or Google Assistant. Check out this Air Fryer on Amazon!

After your air fryer is set, place the tray inside and set it for two to three minutes. Check on your cookies after time is up and repeat the process as necessary if you have several batches that need to be reheated.

I’d suggest keeping a closer eye on your air fryer if you’re using it to reheat cookies. Air fryers have become quite popular due to their ability to cook food quickly and efficiently.

However, this also means they can quickly burn your food if you aren’t paying close attention to cooking time and temperature, so keep a close eye on it to avoid a mishap.

4. Toaster Oven

How To Reheat Cookies In A Toaster Oven?

To warm cookies in a toaster oven, set the toaster oven to 300 degrees to preheat for about 5 minutes. Place the cookies on the tray and warm them for about four minutes. Add an additional minute if they are not warmed through.

If you’re using the toaster oven, I recommend that you make sure your particular oven doesn’t run hot or cold. The amount of discrepancy I’ve seen in many toaster ovens’ heating elements is quite remarkable.

After you’ve checked the temperature, reheat your cookies using the same methods you would when using a conventional oven. Because toaster ovens are smaller, you may have to divide your larger batches into smaller portions.

I do recommend also preheating the toaster oven as you would with a conventional oven. Preheat the toaster oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit (150 degrees Celsius) for about 5 minutes before placing your cookies inside to warm.

5. Stove Top

Can You Reheat Cookies On The Stove Top?

As a general rule, cookies can be reheated on a stovetop. To do so, first, grease a skillet with some non-stick spray or butter. Set the temperature to low and place the cookies in the skillet. Flip them every fifteen seconds and remove them when they reach the desired temperature.

While it’s certainly not a conventional way to reheat your cookies, sometimes you need to think outside the box, especially if you don’t have a microwave or working oven where you’re at. Fortunately, you can use a burner on a stovetop in order to reheat your cookies.

It’s important to use a non-stick pan for this process.

This method tends to work rather quickly, however, it will take some attention to detail, so I recommend reheating your cookies in small batches of three to four.

After you’ve grabbed your skillet, lightly grease it with a dab of cooking spray or butter.

Turn the heating element on low and place your cookies in the pan once it is heated. Flip the cookies over every fifteen seconds in order to ensure they are evenly warmed. The process should take about two to three minutes. After they’ve heated thoroughly, remove them and enjoy!

How To Fix Undercooked Cookies?

As a whole, undercooked cookies can be placed back in the oven after they have cooled. Bake them for an additional five minutes at the same temperature that you baked them at and keep an eye on them so they do not become overcooked or burned.

Undercooked cookies can always be salvaged! I would much rather have a batch of undercooked cookies than burned ones!

So set your oven’s temperature to 325 degrees or at the same temperature you initially baked them at and cook them for an additional five minutes. Since they’re already halfway baked, you’ll want to keep a very close eye on them to avoid overbaking them!
